On 14 February, Valentine’s Day, staff of Latvia’s Centenary Information Centre presented their best-loved books to the People’s Bookshelf.

The books were received by the team leader of the NLL’s most ambitious national centenary project, Valters Ščerbinskis, editor-in-chief of the National Encyclopaedia. As Valters Ščerbinskis himself says, he is just a lad from Grīziņkalns* with more than twenty years of experience as a professional historian. In his daily work, Valters manages the work of the encyclopaedia’s small editorial team, communicating with both the creators and readers of texts.
