The ceremonious and symbolic donation of books to the Latvian community, in the presence of foreign diplomats accredited in Latvia, launched Latvia’s centenary year on 18 January. Books of personal or national importance were donated to the People’s Bookshelf at the National Library of Latvia by the country’s most-senior government officials, encouraging the whole community to engage in the enrichment of our country’s history and culture.
